How to wash and care for silk & satin sleepwear
Hand-wash, machine, dry, and iron tips so silk/satin nightgowns stay glossy and soft.
Silk and satin sleepwear lasts longer with a few simple habits. Follow this care routine to protect drape, sheen, and comfort — especially for pieces you wear against the skin every night.
Washing: hand-wash preferred, gentle cycle if needed
- Turn garments inside out.
- Use cool or lukewarm water (under 30°C).
- Choose a mild detergent; skip harsh bleach.
- Machine wash only in a mesh bag on Delicate/low spin.
- Never wring hard — press water out with a towel.
Drying & ironing
- Dry in shade; strong sun fades satin dyes.
- Use wide hangers or dry flat to protect shoulder shape.
- Iron inside out on low–medium heat with a press cloth.
- Steam restores drape without crushing the fabric.
